Traditional college costs share similarities with online college costs. However, there are also some noticeable differences as well. For example, students who pursue online college degrees do not have to use their financial aid checks to pay for transportation or room and board.

Students who pursue online college degrees never have to leave their homes. The financial aid money that would have been spent on these items can be applied to other needed items.

On the flip side, there are costs that are associated with online programs and not traditional one. For example, online students have to spend more money on postage stamps and the services of local proctors. One could say that both types of programs have valid uses of financial aid. For students of both types of programs, this works out well.

Indeed, financial aid for students is being used for many different types of college costs. Whether they are being used for traditional costs such as room and board or online costs such as proctors and postage stamps, the uses for financial aid will continue to change as long as the many different types of college programs change.
